KUGRDON
Is MLB 2020 grinding to a halt? Will they finish their shortened season?
glduck
It’s teetering. The Marlins are one thing, because I mean, why wouldn’t a bunch of Marlins get COVID? It would be weird if they didn’t, it’s a very Marlin thing to do. But this mini outbreak in St. Louis is concerning. I don’t know why MLB didn’t do a bubble (Arizona/Fla) for each league. The Cardinals one comes from a couple players going to a casino. The Marlins appeared to have gotten it from a club. Apparently when the players were upset about not playing they were actually upset they couldn't go to clubs and casinos with their teammates. Nakedmolerat
I tangentially follow baseball, mostly through Jomboy breakdowns on youtube. If you haven't seen his channel, he has some funny commentary and seems to know the ins and outs of the game. 13 hours ago, glduck said: Every unwritten rule spat is dumber than the last. 100% agree. If you're referring to Tatis blasting a grand slam on 3-0 up big, I have a few issues with the unwritten rule: 1. Don't swing up 6 or more after 7 with a bases loaded and a 3-0 count. That is one hell of a specific rule for it to be unwritten. Fuck that noise, swing away. 2. Would everyone be cool with him roping one of the alley wall, centerfielder overplays it and he ends up on third with a bases clearing triple? What if he has a pedestrian grounder up the middle, that scores 2. I guess the pitcher should avoid loading the bases when you're already losing. 3. Maybe Tatis ought to have had more tact by not celebrating as much in the face of the opponents' growing blowout loss, but that's iffy, since he didn't show anybody up. What's he supposed to do, be somber about it?
