Some crazy disrespect for Pac-12 softball during the bracket unveiling.

They did a live look-in in Seattle, and once they announced Washington got the 16 seed the team stood up and walked out.

Oregon, who finished 3rd in the Pac-12, and is top 10 in RPI and SOS, doesn’t even host.

Yes, looks like significant under-seeding. This article has video of UW walking out.

From UW's perspective:

  • they were ranked No. 5 last week
  • finished 2d in the Pac 12 to No. 2 UCLA with an 18-5 conference record; 3d place Oregon was 14-10 in conference; ASU was 4th at 12-9; AZ was 5th at 12-10.
  • but UW's RPI was 16, behind AZ, ASU and Oregon.

UW was seeded 16, right in line with their RPI. So, i guess the beef is with how the RPI is calculated, which appears to be a straight formula that puts 75% of the RPI calculation on the strength of schedule (too high IMO).

I guess the Pac12 needs to go out and prove they were under-seeded by wrecking the tournament. Hope they do.

Just to point it out, Pac-12 softball is not like football or basketball. We are the preeminent conference in the country.

We've only one one title since 2011. We've allowed the rest of the country to catch up.
