Can anyone explain what’s happened to Stanford the last few years?

Shaw had built a top 10-15 type program with Rose Bowls and good rankings. Every program has cycles but Shaw has shown a lot of consistency.

I certainly haven’t done a deep dive on their program lately.

A key to what happened was the departure of Shannon Turley, perhaps the best strength and conditioning coach in America.  When he left, the decline began.  He had built Stanford's players into massive fighting machines, and that, combined with the cerebral, created a winner.

CU hired him last spring.

I am the most surprised by the first games. My Bruins really surprised me. 2-0 is not what I expected. I expect my Bruins to take a few dumps over the next two months. I am reading an email that donations at UCLA received over 1.9 million in promised donations after this win. The celebrities will now show their faces at Bruin games. Smug assholes.

Washington: WTF? We don’t lose to the Big Sky.
Oregon: Supposed to be our banner school this year.
WSU:  Utah State is a 100% rebuild and whooped your ass.
OSU: Nobody ever expects a win from OSU. Kept it closer than we all thought.
Cal: Nevada? GTFO
Stanford: What a bunch of woke pussies.
ASU: About what we expected.

USC: Looks tough. They will be the team to beat again. Ugh.
Colorado: Surprisingly explosive.

Arizona: Nobody expects them to win. I saw they put up more yards than BYU.  What happened?

Utah: The new QB from Baylor looks really good. Imagine Utah with a good offense.

Our league got a D+ this week.  When do we get a dominant team? Here’s to better games next week.

A couple of poor decisions and sacks on the freshman QB along with an interception in the end zone. We also missed two chip shot field goals. Cruz also took two sacks that took us out of field goal range.

Overall I'm pleased with what I saw. This team is much more competitive than Sumlins team. The future looks bright.

Dude. Give AZ one more qtr in that game, they win. They really started to figure things out towards the end.

I thought the two headed Qb idea was bad. There’s enough to go on in spring and fall to pick a guy. If he fails, throw in the back up.

A good win for UCLA, against a bad LSU team.

But don't be too excited about the UCLA win.  LSU will lose several more games this season, which will take away the shine of the Bruins' win.

Utah, ASU, USC and Colorado won against lower-level teams, like they are supposed to.

Oregon survived against a G5 opponent that's actually pretty good.  I hope they can beat Ohio State next week, but I'm not expecting it.  I think the Buckeyes win convincingly - if not going away.

Everyone else sucked, and Washington swallowed.

Damn.. I was hoping you left for good.  We’re not that lucky I guess.

Other than Vegas, nobody thought UCLA had a chance. I couldnt find a single LSU fan who actually thought UCLA had a chance. Stretchin gout into the SEC, most thought that LSU would win. LSU has talent, but was poorly coached. LSU will absolutely suck in the SEC this year and I'm not sure Ed makes it the whole year. But they imposed their will vs guys who will make the league on their own merits. But LSU was gassed, while UCLA was cruising in the fourth quarter. I think that should be a huge bonus for UCLA throughout the season as they are a deep team. Zach Charbonnet is going to be one and done at UCLA and is probably the best RB in the conference. What's funny is talking about LSU sucking, but UCLA was 10-21 under Chip Kelly, an afterthought, and they ran roughshed over LSU

USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

The USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 65 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
