Last night's antics is a preview of what is going to come next week on Wednesday.  Better load up on that popcorn.  According to the CNN.com article I'm reading right now, the Nixon & Clinton impeachments had bipartisan support while Trump's impeachment has none.  And Pelosi is still lobbying the Dem moderates on impeachment.  No sure thing that the articles of impeachment are passed next week.  Same thing for the Senate Trail.

Indeed, the GOP's only possible strategy here is to muddy the waters, and frame this as a "partisan fight", rather than a trial about a president who -- and this isn't disputed -- solicited foreign help in his own re-election by withholding taxpayer dollars earmarked for said country.

Or starting an impeachment fight without the support of the other party isn't the best strategy forward.  The GOP even including its moderate members have been unified the entire way.  That wasn't the case with the Clinton impeachment.

Now I'm seeing reports that Nancy Pelosi isn't whipping her fellow Dem voters to support the impeachment...more like lobbying.  Nancy is trying to wash her hands clean and she will blame the left wing crazies in the party for this.

I hope the next step after the impeachment and before the election and pass legislation to prevent a future POTUS or Trump from having to put us through this impeachment thing again.  I wouldn't hold my breath over that again.

You’ve said yourself that Trump engaged in impeachable behavior.

How do you suggest the Dems get Republican support?

Yep — no one is able to stand up and say, “The president is innocent of these charges.”

... but sure, antics and popcorn.

Exactly right about no one standing up and saying Trump is innocent.  The culprit is the way the Dems went about doing this impeachment thing.  On an article on Breitbart, there was an article where the Founding Fathers feared a "runaway" Congress and that is what we are seeing.  If the Dems did not have the appearance of wanting to "overthrow" Trump, we'd be counting the days down until Trump is removed from office.  There are or maybe were enough GOP moderates willing to cross party lines.

I'm sure there were GOP attempts to impeach Obama but it never got as far as the Dems have done with Trump.

Lesson for both parties: if you want to impeach a sitting POTUS, the way you do it matters.

Are you actually suggesting that we change the constitution so that we have no legal way to remove a corrupt chief executive?

I don't doubt that Trump did engage in impeachable behavior.

I think the Dems are past the point of getting GOP support to impeach Trump.

LMAO...more like strengthen it and I think getting at least 38 states to support such a measure wouldn't be difficult as well.

I realize you've never been all that quick on the uptake, but your posts are becoming ever-more deranged, each day.  Stop reading Breitbart.  It's literally poisoning that soft brain of yours.

So how could the Dems have persuaded the GOP to supporter it earlier?

By not having the appearance that they wanted to get rid of Trump.  I don't recall the GOP wanting to get rid of Bill Clinton back then.  Big difference in how the opposing party handled the Clinton impeachment versus the Trump impeachment.

And a fact box by Reuters: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-impeachment-charges-factbox/factbox-abuse-of-power-obstruction-the-charges-against-trump-explained-idUSKBN1YE2DM

That is why I don't disagree that Trump did impeachable offenses.  The only problem is how the Dems are going about it because their behavior and wanting to get rid of Trump is an attack on the Constitution just like Trump has done.

So make impeachment on par with a constitutional amendment?  Are you insane?

Impeachment is included in the Constitution.  38 or more states have to support a new amendment or removal of an amendment to the US Constitution.

I can see bipartisan support in many states in the union.

You're the reason our elections are fucked.  Gullible asshats like you.

"tHe DeMs juSt waNt tO geT riD oF tRumP"

Oh, you mean the guy who got fewer votes than Hillary, sided with Nazis at Charlottesville, put babies in cages, cut food stamps 3 weeks before xmas, mocked a disabled reporter, cut taxes for the rich, sided with Putin over the U.S. defense apparatus, cheated on his wife with a porn star, bullied a teenager with autism, shit on a gold-star family, insulted an American POW after his death, stole from his own charity, welcomes police brutality, cozied up to every murderous dictator in the world, cozied up to a convicted pedophile, pardoned a war criminal, allowed hundreds of ISIS fighters to escape in Syria, and calls Mexican-American judges "unqualified" due to their race isn't well-liked?  **

**This is not a comprehensive list. Trump's offenses against humanity are legion.
