PAC MAN
I would think that OSU's Luton could have been second team all P12 instead of WSU's Gordon.
glduck
My initial reaction would be: Cristobal probably should have won COTY, given that he won the conference with what the rest of the PAC-12 deemed a fairly pedestrian group?

Utah put 8 on the first-team alone (plus 2 on the second team) yet got beat handily by what apparently are a bunch of scrubs on the Ducks.

dtd
Pretty terrible. If Cristobal isn't the coach of the year because Whit did more with less, why does Oregon have just a single 1st teamer, (and don't give me that all purpose ST garbage). Also, how is Kayvon Thibodeaux the defensive freshman of the year, but doesn't make either squad while fellow true frosh Drake Jackson does? Wtf? But there isn’t a single Ute fan, player or coach that wouldn’t trade in any of these awards that will be forgotten in a year for the real 2019 hardware they now have in their trophy case. PapaG
Herbert’s 4.01 GPA is highest among the 12 finalists, who included Eastern Washington’s Spencer Blackburn, Georgia’s Rodrigo Blankenship, Ohio State’s Jordan Fuller, Minnesota State’s Alex Goettl, Kansas State’s Adam Holtorf, Carnegie Mellon’s Michael Lohmeier, Virginia’s Jordan Mack, Montana’s Dante Olson, Cornell’s Jelani Taylor, Stanford’s Casey Toohill and Western Michigan’s Jon Wassink. The Ducks senior is 272 of 408 for 3,333 yards with 32 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. Herbert will receive a postgraduate scholarship of $25,000, will be recognized Wednesday at a luncheon held in his honor at the New York Athletic Club, then travel to Atlanta for the College Football Awards at the college football Hall of Fame Thursday and be honored on the field during the College Football Playoff National Championship at the Superdome in New Orleans Jan. 13. Quack 12
“It’s an incredible honor to be standing here in front of all of you and receiving this award,” Herbert said. “I’d like to thank the National Football Foundation for hosting such an unforgettable event. I’m honored to be joining the incredible people who previously received this award and will do my best to uphold the legacy of everyone who’s won it before me. "I’d like to thank my parents for sacrificing so much for my brothers and me and giving us every opportunity to every opportunity that we could ever hope for. To my brothers, thank you for not only being my brothers, but my lifelong friends. I’d like to thank coach Mario Cristobal, coach Marcus Arroyo for everything they’ve taught me both on and off the field. I’d like to thank our athletic director Rob Mullens, president Michael Schill and the support staff at the Jaqua academic center for everything they’ve done for the program. Thank you to every member of our football team for making this year so special for the Oregon Ducks. Can’t wait to play int he Rose Bowl for our last game. Thank you again, and go Ducks.” ___________________ Not one religious reference!

Quack 12
Interesting article by Wilner on the coaches' historic snubbing of Oregon and Cristobal in the all-Pac and COY voting. Apparently, it's personal. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/12/11/oregon-had-just-four-all-conference-honorees-must-be-a-coincidence-unless-its-not-ready-for-a-good-conspiracy-theory/ Welp, the Ducks had fewer first- and second-team selections than any other champion over the nine years. And it’s not close. In fact, it’s suspiciously not close. Presenting the first piece of evidence in our conspiracy theory: year, champion and total first/second-team selections (listed in order of selections): 2016 Washington: 12 (first/second-team honorees) 2012 Stanford: 10 2013 Stanford: 10 2014 Oregon: 9 2017 USC: 9 2015 Stanford: 8 2018 Washington: 8 2011 Oregon: 6 2019 Oregon: 4 Oh, but there’s more … Number of first-team selections: 2016 Washington: 9 2015 Stanford: 6 2017 USC: 6 2018 Washington: 6 2012 Stanford: 5 2013 Stanford: 5 2014 Oregon: 5 2011 Oregon: 4 2019 Oregon: 1 What should we make of the situation?
