  1. She sure as hell sounds intimidated.
  2. Whelp, I forgot to play last week, so I'm toast.
  3. I did the same thing. So "6" is most confident? Fu................ck.
  4. Beat me to it. I've thrown $20 into my commuter three times since St. Patrick's Day. I saw some tropical storm Delta coverage last week from Texas and the gas station in the background showed $1.89. It's like 2.37 at the local casino mini-mart here.
  5. “We’re expecting that we’re going to see many more cases associated with Sturgis,” Kris Ehresmann, infectious disease director at the Minnesota Department of Health, said on Friday when announcing the first 15 rally cases in her state. “Thousands of people attended that event, and so it’s very likely that we’ll see more transmission. Obviously, it takes a while for people to develop symptoms and get tested and for us to get those results.”
  6. Not predicting a landslide anymore?
  7. Wow. That's distressing, to say the least. EDIT: Sorry, apparently I'm a lap behind. This was in response to GregAZ's post from Harrison, Arkansas. I don't know if any messages of support were edited out that video (I hope so) but the blatant hatred oozing from those people is incredible.
  8. That is neither "Breaking" nor "News." It's a feature story in a magazine.
  9. Social distancing family dilemma: My sister-in-law sent me a package via Fed-Ex, which arrived today. Along with a purse for her sister, she included my birthday present (which BTW happened more than a month ago). The box was obviously wet when delivered. She had sent me a fifth of Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (which I've never had), and it was shattered. A quick Google search reveals that it's a fairly expensive bottle of booze, at least by my trailer park standards. So, do I tell her she did a shitty packing job, or do I just graciously thank her for the quality drunk? I already know the answer, but I also know that her packaging skills will not improve as a result of my chivalry. Then again, it's the first time in 32 years that she's given me booze for my birthday. #firstworldCOVIDproblems
  10. Not everyone is letting it go. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/09/politics/duckworth-esper-russian-bounties/index.html
  11. Kudlow also spoke to reporters in person at the White House, saying that “We’re going to have hot spots, no question,” and that “we just have to live with that.” I think what he meant to say is, "We just have to die with that." https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/06/larry-kudlow-americans-just-have-to-live-with-covid-19.html
  12. The George Washington statue at 57th and Sandy Blvd in Portland, was vandalized and torn down last night. I grew up in that neighborhood. It's pretty sad. "It is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
  13. Politifact rates it as false. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/jun/04/tim-murtaugh/theres-no-data-back-claim-skyrocketing-suicides-du/
  14. Trumpocalypse; it's real.
  15. The a-hole is shameless, owned by "libs" again. Or, anyone who is capable of reason.
  16. The important distinction is asymptomatic versus pre-symptomatic carriers. More than 136,000 new cases were reported worldwide yesterday, the largest single-day number yet. More comprehensive testing? Yeah, probably a big part of it, but claiming we shut down the economy for nothing is pretty ridiculous. https://www.who.int/dg/speeches/detail/who-director-general-s-opening-remarks-at-the-media-briefing-on-covid-19---8-june-2020
  17. And still, you offer nothing of substance to refute my statement. The study Orange quoted is from 2010. For those for whom math is hard, that was ten years ago, not seven. Since then, eleven states have legalized or decriminalized marijuana possession, and yet two years ago, this: About 84% of the more than 2,000 marijuana offenders who were federally sentenced in 2018 were people of color, according to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. Only 11% were white, even though whites make up more than 60% of the U.S. population. How do you explain this discrepancy if, as your childish responses suggest, you actually believe the police are even handed in their approach to enforcing the law?
  18. As usual, HLB with the insightful retort. My dad can beat up your dad.
  19. Well, according to NORML, African-Americans are arrested on marijuana-related charges at nearly four times the rate of whites, and I don't believe that's because they consume it at a higher per capita rate. I think it's directly correlated to the approach police take with black Americans. If Biden is truly seeking reform in policing, this is an issue he must address, Hunter's history notwithstanding.
  20. I think events of the past couple of weeks may cause Joe to re-evaluate his position.
