Guest nakedmolerat
Everybody knows about "that guy". There's plenty of them that are fans of other teams (and my team for that matter, but they're Beaver fans, so they get a pass with me ). What are some actions of traits of other fans that annoy you? Here's just some of mine: Drunk opposing team fans that wander through a tailgater acting a fool. Fans that are fans of the team, but have no real affiliation to the team or the university, but consider themselves "we". I also don't like it when waitresses say that, "What'll we have tonight?" People at games that are dressed in team colors of a team that isn't playing that day (every time I've seen this it's at Reser and the people are dressed in Boise St or Oregon gear). Fans who make signs with ABC, CBS, VS, FOX or ESPN in mnemonics just so they get on TV. Witty signs without those that get on TV get a gold star though. That's all I can think of right now. RAT +1 to "People at games that are dressed in team colors of a team that isn't playing that day (every time I've seen this it's at Reser and the people are dressed in Boise St or Oregon gear)." I see that at the Ute games where some Bronco honk is so proud of his smurfs that he dresses in obnoxious blue. I thought it was funny being at College Gameday in SLC last week, and seeing the different flags that people were waving out in the crowd. There were plenty of Utah and TCU flags, which is understandable. However, there was a Utah State flag, an Oregon flag, an Oklahoma flag, several Washington State flags, an Auburn flag, and some others that I can't think of off the top of my head. The best one I saw was a HUGE white flag with red lettering that just said, "I HATE BYU".
Guest SoCalFan80
The Notre Dame fan that after years of irrelevance, with Div 1AA type scheduling, feels the need to complain about not being ranked high enough in the preseason polls, bring up Knute Rockne, "the streak" and championships won when football was played on dirt lots to make themselves feel good about their current 4-5 win seasons. Guest Scorcho
The loud obnoxious attention whore who constantly complains about the officiating, play calling and personnel even when his team is up 17 points in the 2nd quarter. Over time it’s pretty clear this guy never played any organized sports and truly struggles understanding the basic aspects of the game. But with a little liquid courage he’s f*cking Vince Lombardi. Guest Dux
Mine has to be sarcastic drunk guy rooting for the visiting team right behind you fan. A couple weeks ago for the Washington game I had a pair of Husky fans come sit behind me and my son. When they walked up we welcomed them and noticed they were thoroughly sloshed, but gave the courtesy "welcome to Autzen thanks for making the trip" greeting. Well when the game started the way it did all I could hear was WOW BEN WE DON'T EVEN BELONG HERE, WERE JUST HAM & EGGERS, THIS IS THE #1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY WHOA! for almost 2 quarters this went on........fun. Guest Wazzup
The Heckler, especially the foul-mouthed heckler... I'm of the school of thought that you root for your team, you cheer the big plays, you make noise to psyche up your defense and help interfere with audibles etc. BOOING of the opposing team is appropriate 1) When they first run out of the tunnel onto your field, and 2) When some jackwit on the visiting team commits an outrageous foul... unsportmanlike conduct, etc. Personally, I think its classy to applaud an especially good play by your opponent as well... I came to watch a entertaining game... If they show me a long flea-flicker for a TD that leaves my guys on their rears, I'll give them a bit of nice-play applause. Its a game, its supposed to be fun. Either way, I hate the guy that thinks his constant foul-mouthed comments are going to be appreciated or influence the game/refs/whatever in any way whatsoever. I feel sorry for the nearby parents who are just trying to have a good time and catch a game with their young kids, and have to be subjected to a constant stream of profanity. Guest Captain Compete
Oregon fans are the worst. I have been spit on. Had beer bottles thrown at me and my little sister. Last year at Autzen, I had a guy arrested for vandalizing our motor home. And yes I have been to several other PAC10 venue's. I must say, the fans at OSU and Cal were great. FIGHT ON! Guest Bone Crusher
The hypocritical fans are the worst and Husker fans do belong in that category. They cry about having to change their license plates when coming into Colorado and hiding all their Husker decals or stuff in the car when they park their car in Boulder and they love to talk about how classless CU fans are. Yet...those same Husker fans have done the same thing to the cars of Buff fans and this year even Texas fans. There were some Husker fans who left life-threatening messages on the answering machine of the DC from Bill Callahan's staff and they will find out shortly how classy Buff fans are in that regard. All they do is talk and have little to no substance to back it up. Those Husker fans booed while an injuried Texas player laid on the artifical surfce at NU...and they say they are the best fans in the nation all because of that sellout streak all because there isn't anything else to do in Nebraska! The booing fan gets me all rankled up. When you boo at college sports games, you might think you are booing the coaches but not the players and the players themselves think you are booing them not their coach. I say leave the booing to the professional sports players. I am not afraid to rip on my fellow CU fans for hoping CU loses more games so Dan Hawkins could get fired...that proves that you are just a fairweather fan. The college diehard fan truly sucks when they allow the actions of 18-22 year olds to influence their emotions even if that fan is about twice the age of those players. If that is happening, it's time to quit watching college sports.

Has one of your other venues been Tucson? Granted, every team has their share of fools, but they seem to go out of their way down there to get in the face of opposing fans. I have seen UA fans kick the butts (literally) of fans as they walked by, throw food and drink on them, scream and yell in their faces and of course the normal hand signals. What was shocking was that these opposing fans, for the most part, were older fans--not students--and were just minding their own business trying to go from point A to point B. I saw groups of kids, encouraged by their parents, heckle, boo, and say "you suck" as an older couple (I swear I am not making this stuff up) walked by. The older guy yelled at the parents "what the hell are you teaching your kids?" Needless to say that didn't exactly quiet the heckling. Right now you're probably thinking, well, that's what happens in a rivalry game. Well, ASU was not playing UA, they were playing Oregon. I'm all for some good-natured heckling and banter, but at some point it crosses the line and in some places, that type of behavior seems to be encouraged rather than discouraged. Guest nakedmolerat
Has one of your other venues been Tucson? I have played at every Pac-10 venue and many out of conference stadiums as well. I've had some interesting experiences personally and those that I've witnessed. For example: I was hit with a slice of American cheese flung from the crowd in Tempe. I saw our punter get a beer dumped on him while punting out of the back of the endzone in Reno. I saw a UCLA player attack Benny the Beaver walking up the ramp in Reser. But nothing will ever compare to Fresno. We had D-cell batteries and the handles of screwdrivers (they were safety concious enough to remove the actual screw driver) thrown at us as we entered and exited the stadium. Several drinks were thrown, some of them still in glass bottles. I'm pretty sure someone threw a chunk of the concrete from the stadium at us. It was mayhem. On top of that, the walk from the field to the visitors locker room in Fresno is about a half a mile, and they parade you right through the fans during halftime. Most of the heckling in visiting stadiums is pretty benign. But when you have to wear your helmet the whole time so you don't get injured, that has crossed a line in my opinion. Here's an interesting article from '09. Click RAT

Guest nakedmolerat
Classy & Yummy. I wish people showered me with cheese everywhere I went. It was unwrapped too. It hit me in the left temple, but I was wearing my helmet (we had just come off the field and were meeting with the OL coach). It took me several minutes to pick it out of the bars of my facemask. That's why watching the game at home on HDTV or on the web and talking smack on the boards is becoming a viable option. People don't take sportsmanship as seriously as they used to in the past. I'm afraid my kids will never get to exprience Folsom Field or any other college venues with their father like I did with my father because despite alochol bans at Folsom Field and the Coors Events Centers, the CU students & alumni will drink heavily before the games and enter the venue drunk. Going to places such as Buffalo Wild Wings where there are many big screens for HDTV projectors are becoming a very viable thing to do. I apologize for venting but that is the state of pro and college sports these days and it's starting to rear its ugly face in prep sports as well. Guest uteman1011
I'm more embarrassed by my home fans than visitors (one exception for boise state donkeys). I have season tickets and take my 14 yo daughter to the games. For the most part the Utah fans are pretty good people but there's a growing contigent of drunk, beligerant "fans" that are beginning to creep in. I get tired of all the foul mouthed crap, people puking, and general mayhem brought by some of these. My section police's itself pretty well but there are a lot that don't. Now the donkey fans are some of the most arrogant, classless bunch of inbred apes I've ever witnessed. Foul mouthed, picking fights and being general @ssholes for the entire game. They seem to have a huge inferiority complex that lends itself to their feelings of entitlement. I'm SO happy we are leaving the conference before they come in. Guest GoBruinz
I hate the fans that are @ssholes (cursing at them, yelling at them, etc.) to the opposing fans, just because they are supporting the other team. It's just a game people. My tailgating posse tends to be pretty polite and welcoming to other fans. It just makes the experience much better at the games. But opposing fans that taunt the home crowd after they win? Not cool (and not smart).

Yeah, that guy is annoying. Sorry to hear that it was a UW guy serving as your prime example. Someone's already mentioned the drunk cusser, but he gets my vote, too. Cussing doesn't bother me in and of itself, but when it's screamed out in the middle of a crowd with families, etc. you might as well wear a sandwich-sign that reads "trailer trash". It's even better when the wife trys to shut him up and he looks at her surprised like he can't believe she doesn't see why it's not only justified, but his duty to share F-bombs with the crowd. Closely related - maybe his cousin or something - is the drunk repeater. The guy picks out a phrase that usually makes no sense and screams it out over and over again. I was at a game once when the guy behind me kept yelling "SIT DOWN, SON!!". Probably 3 - 4 times each play, all game. What does that even mean? I will say this, though - NFL games are much worse in my opinion. I'm amazed at who crawls out of the woodwork to go to those games.

He is either new to the section this year or just recently decided that at least once a drive (offense or defense doesn't matter) he's going to scream in a very desperate tone "TAKE IT HOME BABY!". Um ok, there gonna take it home and you sir are creepy.
