Just watched the rerun of the Oregon State Washington state game. I’m really interested in seeing how Martinez does against the Utah defense.  Matchup of the week.

Utah is currently 3rd in the nation in rush defense. Giving up only 51 rush yards per game. I don't think that stat holds up for the rest of the year. But I think it will be fun to watch this part of the matchup.

Our front 7 is very stout even with injuries.

I'm just an observer, and we can go back and forth about this, but the bottom line is that Deion Sanders has elevated the level of interest in west coast football to a level it hasn't seen in like forever.  We can call it hype, and it is, and we may or may not like him, but it also is what drives the sport, the media, and the money markets.  Every Pac-12 school benefits from that.  Eyeballs not only = media cash, they also open the wallets of donors, and not just for Colorado.  Every school that Prime faces stands to benefit from the exposure.

Yeah, the conference isn't getting SHIT from Deion Sanders and his kids' antics.  Particularly OR State and Wash. State (or anyone else who won't be in the Big 12 next year).  This is utter bullshit.

Utah vs Oregon State.

In Kyle's weekly press conference, it was nothing but respect for Jonathan Smith and OSU. He said there are so many similarities with both programs. Culture, toughness, mind set etc. Oregon State has established themselves as a top P12 program IMO.

We are supposed to have 8-10 starters back this week but I've been bitten by this now for 4 games, so I'm reluctant to have hope. I've also been saying all year, the current make up for Utah offensively will not cut the mustard against the better teams of the P12. Our luck just may have run out this game.

Right now, I think OSU wins by the spread of 3. I'd like to think with a fullish team of starters, we can snag this win but that will be tough. Good news is, we have a bye after this game.

If Utah can get a steady passing game going, OSU will have trouble stopping it.  Corners are our weak spots, and if you guys have a mobile QB it will be especially hard, since we'll be spying the QB run and therefore vulnerable to screens, deep balls, etc.

Conversely, DJ has been horribly inconsistent with the deep ball.  We'll have to run it down Utah's throat early and often, and use play-action sparingly (for some goddamned reason Smith and Co. were using play-action on first down OVER AND OVER with DJ against WSU, and he was throwing into coverage, overthrowing, panicking from the rush, etc.  It was a nightmare until OSU shifted the gameplan later in the game, but we ran out of time).  Whatever our O-line did against WSU was a pale shadow of how they looked against SDSU, UC Davis, etc., which may have more to do with competition than gameplan.

Yeah, that was my point with this year. The P12 revenue infusion from Sanders is a ship that has sailed.  I think the P12 Championship is the only moving revenue target that could change and I don't think CU has a prayer of making that game.  TV money is already set in the B12 as well. So again, only CU will likely get a revenue boost from their hype, unless they suddenly become a bowl giant with extra pooled revenue for the conference.

So while some fans on this board and nationally have drank too much "Prime" Kool Aid and think he's god's gift to football, CU is helping CU. The way some fans speak, you'd think King Midas himself was coaching in Boulder and everything he touches turns to gold. If said opponents are lucky enough to grace the same field with Sanders.

People also seem to forget the negative impact of all the Prime Hype. His sons wanting to fight coaches, death threats from fans. etc.

Smith will have to cut back on the bonehead 4th and 7 decisions.  WSU got two touchdowns after stopping 4th down attempts.

I just listened to a live interview with Cam Rising. The vibe I got was “I’m getting better and better” not, I’m ready to go.

I think you guys see Nate Johnson tomorrow. And I’ll stick to OSU by 3.

… every other year.

I would love if Utah and the Oregon schools as well as the LA schools can work out some OOC games in the future. But something that makes sense because these are 4 good football programs.

We will still recruit LA but nothing like before. Plan to shift to more Texas recruiting is already in the works.

Average Home Attendance through 4 games:

UW: 66,570

USC: 64,513

CU: 53,191

Oregon: 52,803

Utah: 52,698

ASU: 47,807

AZ: 46,170

UCLA: 41,204

Cal: 40,475

OSU: 35,659

Stanford: 30,947

WSU: 29,910

Top half looks good.  Surprised that ASU has played all 4 games at home so far. That will be a heavy road back end.

They just announced that our game vs Washington is sold out.

I think this is going to be a sneaky good game. Arizona is a tough place to play, especially when the crowd is in to it. Going to miss these games v. AZ. Hope we get a good one.

I’m sure glad De Laura transferred.  He was constantly panicked when he was here.  He could create chaos but took advantage of it far too infrequently.

I have come all the way around to believing that Cam Ward is a clear upgrade over De Laura, after initially thinking the Cougs downgraded at QB.
