i don't know what to think anymore. the beavs' steady season-long improvement seemed like enough to get them a rather convincing CW win. they're a bad W/L team on the upswing, you know? whereas we've spent all season rolling around in our own filth, a bad W/L team on the way down. then saturday happened, and we looked energized and cohesive and the defense was stopping people and my whole worldview was momentarily turned upside down.

so i don't know what to expect this week. in corvallis, i'm leaning towards osu. they've got a streak to break and one nice game does not erase a season-long defensive collapse. rex manu is a huge blow, i honestly don't know how our d-line still exists as a concept.

I haven't been following Oregon much this year, to be honest.  It sounds like their defense is a little bit of the bullfighter style, but they're coming in off of a very bigly road win against a ranked team, so as usual, they're hitting their stride for rivalry week.

That said, I really like our chances to stay in a game til the 4th quarter when Nall has the rock.  Chances are the Beavs are gonna be more on fire for this game.  I'm tempted to predict a win, but I'm also not fucking stupid.  Trump's gonna be our president, after all.

if our defense reverts to form, that is to say if it plays like it did the 10 games prior to last saturday, ryan nall might put himself in next year's heisman consideration. nobody gives up 10 yards a pop quite like we do. add up his size/strength and our girlish ambition to arm tackle everybody with the football and nall is going to have a big YAC day.

stanford averages like 9 points a game and we gave up FIFTY.

the litmus test is really uc-davis. they came in playing 8-man fcs football and still scored 28. you're basically guaranteed 40 by stepping off the bus and putting your cleats on the right foot.

I would think Helfrich will be back no matter what.

If OSU wins it, GA will be the savior that Riley was not. 2007 was a looooooooooooong time ago.

Plenty of rumors saying he's already been told he's not coming back. And if the Texas mods are to be believed, Herman is already taking with UO, and he's given Texas 48hrs or he's moving on from them.

i think herman has helped build a team that can beat just about anybody on a given night, but even if you forgive the navy loss id love to know what happened the day Houston got whipped by smu. that's 2013 arizona smoking a marcus mariota-led oregon team right out of tucson level of weird.

i realize I'm nitpicking one loss in two years.

i also think texas keeps herman in-state.

John Harbaugh is one of those names every college program throws out. But if he's fired, he'll get an NFL job in a second. Super Bowl winning coaches are in demand. UCLA did hire a search firm back when looking for coaches and they came up with John Harbaugh when he was a ST coach still. Oh well, what could have been
