Orange
Congress continues to protect medical marijuana from enforcement by the DOJ in the latest congressional budget. https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomangell/2018/03/21/congress-protects-medical-marijuana-from-jeff-sessions-in-new-federal-spending-bill/#8d42e3f35750 Which, as the federal government has already done, completely confesses that the scheduling of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act is nonsensical and unconstitutional. Orange
Marijuana decriminalization reduces drug arrests (DUH) but also reflects zero uptick in youth use: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3129032 The only thing dangerous about marijuana is getting caught with it in the wrong state. KUGRDON
Is it weed:
Orange
Yeah, it's the weed. It's not the tradition of old people outvoting young people since the beginning of time. Matter of fact, according to this, since most states legalized medical or recreational marijuana, turnout among people in their 20s is up during presidential elections. So perhaps weed is spurning them to vote. Serious question, Don, do you ever drink alcohol? What do you think the body count/destroyed lives count is for alcohol vs. weed? And why do you believe one has faced a century of prohibition while the other's prohibition lasted a little over a decade?

Orange
So you're just going to keep posting hysterical, unrelated, unverified anecdotal weed horror stories and not respond to my question? This thread is not for bullshit, please. Post actual information, or fuck off. I can provide stories about people drinking water to the point of cyclical vomiting. Quack 12
Quote he had been to the emergency room dozens of times, tried anti-nausea drugs, anti-anxiety medications and antidepressants, endured an upper endoscopy procedure and two colonoscopies, seen a psychiatrist and had his appendix and gallbladder removed. This really seems like horseshit. This guy is 28 years old, went through all this in less than 10 years, and it never occurred to him to take a break from the bong? BTW, his MyLife profile states that he's a single Caucasian, Christian Republican. MAGA!

STFU When I first read about this condition a few months ago I thought it was some kind of rare event being played up as a scare tactic. However, in the meantime I had a conversation with a good friend who is an ER doctor and says she sees this all the time. She is particularly frustrated by the number of patients who don't believe the condition is caused by their marijuana use, and instead continue to believe that their symptoms can be cured with ... (you guessed it) more marijuana use. Which triggers more vomiting etc. Kind of comical really. Long story short, this is apparently a real side effect for a number of heavy users. Quack 12
Technically, it's just an anecdotal story, so it's not news at all.

I suppose that is correct, but the story does mention a recent study: Now a new study, based on interviews with 2,127 adult emergency room patients under 50 at Bellevue, a large public hospital in New York City, found that of the 155 patients who said they smoked marijuana at least 20 days a month, 51 heavy users said they had during the past six months experienced nausea and vomiting that were specifically relieved by hot showers. Extrapolating from those findings, the authors estimated that up to 2.7 million of the 8.3 million Americans known to smoke marijuana on a daily or near-daily basis may suffer from at least occasional bouts of C.H.S. “The big news is that it’s not a couple of thousand people who are affected — it’s a couple million people,” said Dr. Joseph Habboushe, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at N.Y.U. Langone/Bellevue Medical Center and lead author of the new paper, published in Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology.
Quack 12
Well, I'm not denying that it's a potential health issue, (In fact, it sounds just like a Millennial's kind of health issue, namely, a tummy ache) but that "study" is questionable at best. So, 2127 adults under age 50 were questioned while in the Emergency Room (for something) at Bellevue, and of the 7 percent admitting to being heavy pot smokers, roughly one-third had experienced nausea and vomiting that was specifically relieved by a hot shower? What the hell kind of science is that?
