  1. Cal just recently completed their new facilities upgrades. They have been down for a very long time. I look for Cal to also compete very soon. Give it a couple of years. As far as the coaching aspect, everyone has good coaches. It's recruiting and talent on the field that matters most. Coaching is vastly overrated in every sport.
  2. A lot of P5 schools are still playing catch-up. CU is finally in the picture and competing in the facilities race. Let's see how they do now that there is a more level playing field for them.
  3. The new Colorado facilities are mighty impressive. They definitely have sizzle and will be a huge boost for recruiting. Colorado could be scary good in just a couple of years.
  4. The Notre Dame model: When all else fails, blame academics.
  5. It is damaging to your program to not have an on-campus stadium. Look at the records: Miami Hurricanes --> no on-campus stadium --> conference champions last 10 years: zero Pitt Panthers --> no on-campus stadium --> conference champions last 10 years: one UCLA Bruins --> no on-campus stadium --> conference champions last 10 years: zero UCLA is the Miami of the West

  9. It has been 16 seasons since UCLA last won a conference title. The Bruins will never win another Pac-12 championship until they build an on-campus football stadium. Until that happens elite recruits will continue to see that UCLA does not put much importance in its football program.
  10. It appears that USC will not have much problem raising the $600 million for the Coliseum renovations. They once again ranked 3rd among US universities for fundraising. Only Harvard and Stanford had more success. USC also announced that it had raised $4 billion in gifts and pledges toward its ambitious campaign goal of $6 billion by June 2018. In a letter to the campus community Tuesday, USC President C.L. Max Nikias thanked donors and fundraisers but warned against complacency. “We still have $2 billion left to raise, and the final stretch of any campaign is always the most difficult,†Nikias wrote. 11. These Coliseum renderings are from two years ago. The new DLR Group renderings will be out in a couple of months.
  12. USC could spend up to $600 million in LA Coliseum renovation Athletic Director Pat Haden has the DLR Group plans for the renovation of the Coliseum. Construction will begin in two years. USC will keep the outer shell of the Coliseum, and they will rebuild the inside of it. The Fred Roggin Show
