We don't go to 16 because of acronym issues.

There is a specific difference in acronym style between the California and Colorado schools. Californias are UC and Colorados are CU

UC(la)

U(s)C

UC-B

UC-Davis

CU-B

C(s)U

Then there's Oklahoma and Oregon, respectively...

OU

UO

(fans of both schools get pissed when you get them confused, even)

Hell, even if in some strange (and apocolyptic) scenario, we have to add Wyoming..

Washington is UW or UDub

Washington State is WSU...

and Wyoming doesn't even have an acronym, really. They are just.. Wyoming. They never really deserved an acronym.

But then the chink in the armor of the Pac-16 plan comes crashing down with Oklahoma State and Oregon State...

Both are OSU

Neither are UOS

Both are Black and Orange.

That's why we don't go to sixteen. Oregon/Oklahoma States ruin everything.

Pac12 forever.

Just look at the school logos and you have the answer in some of those cases.

Actually, CU really is University of Colorado but the Midwestern schools from the old Big 8 went with CU, KU, OU, NU, and MU in this regard. Some B1G schools are like that especially Indiana and Northwestern.

The CU website has something that talks about that...I'll try to find that out.

And mccusinart, I busted on you for referring to Oregon as OU instead of UO. ;)

A couple years back, OS was this close to scoring a home and home with Oklahoma State. I don't remember what killed the deal, but everyone was talking it up as the "battle to see who is the real OSU" or something like that.
