  1. He was ineligible. It's not the NCAA who gives the trophy
  2. I guess you have to work for something at ASU
  3. Do you still get a free STD with admission to SDS? I can play too
  4. Jalapeno...is that you? Ucla has a pretty multinational population that draws outside its immediate area. You don't see how that impacts student attendance?
  5. Isn't ASU about to have the largest undergrad numbers with their UofPhoenix type online networking? Bring two cans and you get free admission? Ucla generally has the smallest student section in September
  6. UCLA takes more kids that wouldn't normally get into UCLA, no one is arguing that. But IE Bruin's point was that Cal has taken a lower profile of kids that UCLA wouldnt normally be able to get past their admissions department.
  7. Here was a job, albeit an old one, from the Orlando Sentinel about getting in kids to football programs and the ease of it http://collegefootballresource.com/blog/2006/2/5/squeezing-the-cork-back-into-the-bottle.html If you want counter arguments, Bearinsider dismisses this article greatly. Just ask them (Most of their anger was back in 2009 when #Calgang was at its height)
  8. I think you continued to misunderstand the special admits (you have done so the last few times you've posted those articles). It's kids who wouldn't normally get into UCLA because of competition, not who didnt meet entrance requirements to a UC school. UCLA doesnt ask for waivers for kids who do not meet UC requirements as they don't really recruit those kids, something Cal, under Tedford, did on more than one occasion. Your article mentions underqualified, not unqualified as you mentioned in your above post. It's apparent that UCLA doesn't really recruit 4.3 student athletes like Cal does, but they aren't looking for 2.3 kids, either. The 2.8 kids that UCLA is taking, meet UC requirements but still are classified as "special admits" because their profile doesnt meet the normal UCLA incoming freshman class profile. They aren't taking ASU/SDSU special admits, just need a pulse class. As soon as I saw IE Bruin make that post, I knew I was going to see that poorly worded "special admits" post again. But there is a big difference in being underqualfied and unqualified. UCLA"s graduation rate is decently impressive as they don't have a football degree program like PE, Family Studies, Sports Administration, or Business. The athletes usually have to take History or Pysch, which requires a fair amount of paper writing. How much of those papers they might write, is another story. I do think Mora has earned some 'silver bullets" from the Admissions department. I think they tried to use one on Joseph Wicker, but it looks like he won't even get into ASU, so I'm not sure it will matter. I do wonder if Cal's policy is changing because the team isnt as successful now and with a poor performing team plus a poor graduation rate, changes needed to be made. If UCLA sees its graduation rates go down for athletes as well as the performance sink to Dorrell/Neu levels, we might see the requirements go back up.
  9. The last four years, UCLA has finished first or second in the south and probably first or second in the PAC-12 south. I think it's about even. But if you are trying to tell me that recruiting is an exact science, I won't argue. Thankfully there will always be Arizona State, probably the one team that underachieves more than UCLA
  10. Oregon has out coached UCLA in 8 of the 10 years
  11. Because coaching is overrated?
  12. UCLA announces the Mo Ostin Basketball Facility. http://www.uclabasketballfacility.com/ UCLA had previously announced the plans for the Wasserman Football Facility Both are going to be built simultainiously and should be done in 2017. They also are pretty much donored funded as the UC system wont allow new construction unless it's been funded prior to being built
  13. I'd like to see Cartel money used for an on campus stadium. Cap it at 55k and everyone talks about how great of a fan base we have..
  14. Well that is one crazy theory. Arizona State hasn't won a title in nearly 20 years. ASU will never win another PAC-12 championship until they improve their academic standing. Until that happens elite recruits will continue to see that ASU does not put much importance on its football program
  15. UCLA received a 10 million dollar donation for the football facility
  16. I question anything where private schools release information with limited scope
  17. Is SDS considered intimidating? I don't feel like bigger is really better (no Don)
  18. Looks like they want to try and make some money on it by trying to get an NFL team
  19. It's almost as if they hired the same company..
  20. There is some mixed reactions to the facility as it looks a lot like an office building. I think the concept of the middle open area is pretty cool, but it's going to have to look better in person than on paper. It looks like they'll be getting to 60 million in donations/pledges after everything is said and done. I think with Mora getting pretty much free reign to do whatever he wants and being on the ground floor of all of this, it makes it harder to see him leaving for the NFL
  21. UCLA released the renderings of their football facilities. www.UCLAFootballFacility.com Official Release: The UCLA Athletic Department has released preliminary renderings of its new Football Performance Center, it was announced today. The renderings by ZGF Architects LLP (ZGF), an award-winning architectural, planning, and interior design firm selected by the UCLA Athletic Department to design the new facility, can be viewed at uclafootballfacility.com. Since the official public announcement of the campaign to raise private funds for a comprehensive football facility back on September 24, 2013, the UCLA Athletic Department has received approximately $40 million in cash and pledges to date. “The tremendous commitment to our football program, be it from Coach Mora, Heisman Trophy candidate Brett Hundley or AD Dan Guerrero, has been well documented,” said Josh Rebholz, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. “And I’m proud to report that our Bruin family is stepping up and committing as well. To raise $40 million in little more than six months for this facility is truly remarkable, but now more than ever, we need everyone who loves UCLA to keep pushing forward and not rest until we get this project completely funded.” The ZGF-designed, state-of-the-art facility will be located on the west side of Spaulding Field and is intended to house a locker room, athletic training area, strength and conditioning facility, coaches’ offices, team meeting rooms, equipment rooms and video rooms, in addition to several elements that will feature the storied history of UCLA Football. Notably, ZGF, whose dedication to design excellence has resulted in a nationally-recognized reputation for creativity and quality, completed work on the University of Oregon’s athletic facilities which includes the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex (Football Performance Center). For more information or to become involved in the UCLA Football Training Facility campaign, contact Josh Rebholz at 310-206-3302, or visit www.UCLAFootballFacility.com.
  22. For sure. I dont doubt it might be the P. Diddy Facility if push came to shove
  23. UCLA has 26 of 60 million pledged already for their facility
