This is still terrible for me to look at.  Knowing the P12 is done.  I’m not ready to flip the switch to this shitty conference.

Maybe my attitude will change down the road but the P12 was a perfect fit for Utah.

It is what it is. Wish this conference could have stayed together, but what can you do? Hoping in a few years when it goes to a 2 conference model they go back to regional divisions and most of the P12 plays each other again.

Why doesn't Witt just run the running back three yards closer to the middle of the field and call time out.

Whitt commented on why FG team was initially sent out, Pac 12 refs:

    Quote

And what we were doing there at the end is we were going to center it up and I let the ref know we were going to center it up and call timeout. They say you can’t call timeout, but you just can’t call consecutive timeouts. So I sent the field goal unit back out there, knowing that it was incorrect, but they were going to wind the clock and then they (USC) called timeout. And so, I came back over and got the other ref and said, ‘hey, what’s the deal?’ There was a little bit of lack of communication, but the bottom line is we got it settled where yes, you can use your final timeout if you use that last play to center it up. So that’s why it looked a little bit wishy-washy at the end.

Good game my man. Classic battles the last few years. @Trojan209, same to you.

Bad news, our stud LB Lander Barton is out the rest of the year.  He was having a great season.

It’s also official, Rising and Brant out the rest of the year.

I have no idea how this team is 6-1 with all the injuries they have had.

Why? Is everyone a USC football fan? Most college teams don't share their town with anyone. It's the never ending conversation about competition for entertainment and Los Angeles has more competition than any place in the world. With shitty public transportation that makes it a nightmare getting around.

They also have the largest population of any city with an FBS football team. When they are competing for national championships, the fans show up, otherwise not so much. Kind of the definition of fair weather fans,

Just heard John Wilner say that he does not think the buffs make a bowl game this year. They need two more wins out of: @ UCLA, Beavs, AZ, @ WSU, @ Utah.

I would think they would be underdogs in every game.

Notre Dame 48, USC 20 .... And it didn't feel that close.  What a butt whipping.  Makes me question the rankings of Oregon and Washington.  What would happen if they were to play elite teams, and not just teams in the PAC12.

Personally, I don't think either team could beat:  Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, FSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, BAMA, UNC, Ole Miss, Tenn, LSU and ND.

It just goes to show that these subjective rankings are silly and don't really amount to much.

Outside of a 2-4 Michigan State team, who has Washington played and beaten, other than other over ranked PAC12 teams, like Oregon?

Other than a 3-4 Texas Tech team - who they almost lost to - who has Oregon played, outside of other over ranked PAC12 teams, like Washington?

I could say the same about Oregon State, UCLA, Utah and Washington State - other than other over ranked PAC12 teams, what elite 2023 teams have they beaten, to warrant their subjective rankings?

We just saw what happened to USC when they faced a quality opponent - one that I would not categorize as one of the nation's elite teams, in 2023, although a pretty good team.

I don't even know if Oregon State, UCLA, Utah, USC and Wazzu could beat Duke, UNC, Miami, Louisville or Clemson, from the ACC - the conference that I think has the most overall quality teams, in 2023).

These rankings are greatly subjective, and fortunately have no bearing on what the committee will release on about 3 weeks.

Washington might (should) win out and "could" make the CFP.  But they will get soundly beaten, by whoever they would face in the CFP, if they make it in.

By the end of the season, I predict that the PAC12 will have 3 teams in the Top-25.  Two in the Top15 (Washington and Oregon) and one in the Top10 (Washington).  I think Wazzu and Oregon State both fall out of the Top25, by season's end.

    Why are you here?

I'm not sure what all the anti-Colorado rhetoric is all about, dominating threads with repeated comments.  I'd rather talk about football.  Let's just celebrate another Pac-12 teams that is having a good season.

As for Colorado players and their head coach, a lot of what is said has a somewhat racist tone to it.  That's probably not what we're seeing here, but nationally, it sure is in the mix.  It's hard to deny.

Everything is more complicated than what adherents and opponents claim.  For example, the talk about Colorado players.  I ran into this on Jaylen Ellis, a transfer from Baylor.  It's not exactly a watch-flex:

I agree.  Shouldn't teams that play Colorado want them to beat OOC teams like TCU and Nebraska for SOS reasons?

Imagine if CU gave all of their scholarship players a lease on a truck? We would hear how this is the end of CFB as we knew it and probably make "jokes" about rim sales skyrocketing in the Denver area.

Deion has done a great job using the portal and NIL to quickly make Buffs a competitive team, which considering where they were last year is quite amazing. However, the amount of hype they have gotten has just been a lot. IMHO they are not in the top half of this league ( behind at least the 7 ranked teams ). There is a lot to praise for what Deion has done here, but I think some of the criticisms are valid too. He is brash, and talks a lot and his team follows suit, and that is going to rub people the wrong way. Hope he sticks around and builds the program up so maybe a rivalry can form in the Big XII that never materialized in the Pac.

I am imagining that I am a Republican congressman from Eastern Washington. I’m also imagining that the Democrats own a majority in the House of Representatives. Finally, I’m imagining that the Democrats are voting to oust Pelosi as Speaker in favor of AOC.  What do I do.  I “hate” Pelosi but genuinely fear AOC as destructive to democracy.  What do I do?  I’d hold my breath and vote for Pelosi.

It’s hard for me to understand why Democrats didn’t vote to retain McCarthy as speaker.  He had just entered into a compromise which allowed the govt to continue to be funded without any other demands.  No cuts in spending, no tax cuts, no border walls, no halt of aid to Ukraine, no immigration reforms.  What’s to follow is going to be chaotic and more ideological battles.

I understand hating McCarthy, I don’t understand letting that hate turn into Jim Jordan or someone like him be speaker.

Blaming Democrats for insanity in the party you support, pretty much a summary of everything you have ever posted about politics.

And somebody said am NIL was not a way to get around title nine. How many field hockey players got trucks?

Nothing to prevent it. I know Utah women's gymnastics has some lucrative NIL. Free market and whatnot.

Unfortunately women's sports generally not as marketable as men's. The college football players generate a lot of revenue for schools, coaches and networks. I find it disingenuous when folks cry about how paying the kids a little bit ruins "amateur" athletics and college football while everyone else profits ( average P5 head coach makes $6.2M/year )

I mean, they’re Rams.  What could they possibly cost, ten dollars?

I believe they said they were $61k or so. Not "giving" the players the car, but a 4 yr. lease with insurance is my understanding.

I meant in terms of injuries. Did they lose a lot during the UCLA game or were they injured earlier?

Been losing more guys every game. Yesterday in addition to QBs and TE were missing top 2 RB's, starting receiver, kicker and a few guys on defense.  Starting left OT, starting DE, another QB ( Barnes ) and another RB all went out with likely serious injuries.  Starting to run out of players,  hoping a few guys can get healthy enough to play with the bye week

Was this essentially the team that played UCLA? I really have no idea that’s why I’m curious trying to judge UCLA’s strength.

Defense scored first play against UCLA, Utah was a little more successful running the ball and stopping the run, and UCLA had freshman QB. Beavers would likely be favored, but wouldn't shock me if UCLA won.

  15. Hope the Bucks win the next couple, as I am a big Dame and Giannis fan. After 2 years it seems they will have to blow it up, as I understand the two of them will be making over $100M year combined at that point.

I don’t completely disagree.  He has been dragged and deservedly so.  I just don’t think, outside of the exposure, this is unique to CU.

I have never heard Utah's head coach call others out before the game or make it about himself, and I don't think he would tolerate his players doing so.
