CU Buffs Basketball

PAC MAN

I just felt like doing a Don so I created a thread for the heck of it. :)

Buffs sleepwalked in a close win at home against mighty Omaha...so embarrassing.  Pull a similar stunt against Air Force and the Falcons might give the Buffs a swift kick in the rear.  My solution would be to force each CU player to drop their pants and sit on freshly garnished jalapeno...they won't forget it and it would literally light a fire under them.

It's a long season but the Buffs better not forget Omaha even if Peyton Manning isn't muttering that word anymore.

Big win for the Buffs in Ft. Collins.  Buffs were down by 13 points and won 88-77.  The Buffs did the same thing at Auburn and played Iowa State close.  Team chemistry is better this season than last season and I think the Buffs will exceed expectations this season in the PAC.

BYU comes to Boulder this Saturday.  Any Utes want to chime in about that team down south?

I'm expecting BYU to be physical with us and CSU was the same way since it's a rivalry game.  They beat Weber State which tends to contend for the Big Sky Conference and they play Utah State at home.  They certainly will be ready to go this Saturday.  Maybe the Buffs players will have to wear cups for this game too.

This will be the last meaningful home game in OOC play before conference play begins.

Posted same article in the RPI rankings for 2016 thread.  But some things to watch out for.

The Buffs will play two games this week at home as part of a Las Vegas tourney then play against Penn State.  Should the Buffs beat the Nittany Lions, the Buffs might play SMU who is #18 and coached by Boyle's coach at KU.  Can Boyle beat Brown in Vegas if that happens?  Judging on how well CU MBB is playing right now, I think that matchup is very likely.

Buffs had a decent lead against Penn State and managed to let that lead wither down but held on to win by one point.  I believe if this was last season's team, the result would have easily been a loss.

Now bring on #18 SMU and Boyle's former college coach

CU bids farewell to four seniors tomorrow. Time does go by fast and Josh Scott and Xavier Talton were part of a special class that included Xavier Johnson and Wesley Gordon. Johnson hasn't decided on next season but Gordon will be back. Looking back, the recruiting class that those players were part of was a good class.

If Johnson returns next season, I think the Buffs should be okay but I'm not really looking forward to when that recruiting class is fully done with their time in Boulder unless other people from outside that class steps up.

As long as Tad Boyle is still in Boulder, the Buffs will be a threat for 20+ wins a season given that Boyle has five of CU's nine 20 win seasons in MBB history.

I have been concerned about filling Josh Scott's shoes but Xavier Johnson is coming back and will be one of five seniors on the roster next season.  There could be a good number of juniors and RS sophs next season as well so I really like the class make up.  You could say CU is good to go for the next several seasons but it looks like Boyle and company will have to kill it in recruiting sooner than later.

CU will be going to a tourney at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn that will include Norte Dame, Texas, and Northwestern.

OOC Home games: CSU and more to be announced.

OOC Road games: BYU, Air Force, and Portland.

Pac-12 non-round robin games: LA schools visit Boulder and CU visits the desert.  Bay Area, Oregon, Washington, and Utah will be round robin games.
