  1. Ahh, got it: in 1997 Price’s Cougs won the conference and played Michigan in the Rose, and then in 2002 they won the conference again and played Oklahoma in the Rose before he left for a date with Destiny. Yeah, DeBoer’s influence over the conference decision does not sit well with me.
  2. Well, to be fair, i was saying this a while back during all the realignment due to tv's influence. Losing coaches to higher paying programs is not a new thing. By the way, am i correct that UW and WSU now share an experience of losing a high profile coach to Alabama after playing Michigan in a prominent end of season game? Didn't Mike Price leave after the Leaf and the Cougs almost beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl? That is kind of weird.
  3. You have hit all the names I was thinking of. I think Grubb definitely wants to be a head coach, but as we have all seen even promising first time head coaches don't always work out (Jimmy Lake etc.).
  4. this is not "official" official, but it might as well be ...
  5. DeBoer was supposed to be interviewed at 8am this morning on local radio (KJR) this morning, but cancelled the appearance because he is apparently meeting with the UW AD. That is the chatter i am seeing on Twitter. DeBoer's agent is Jimmy Sexton, a heavyweight in college football (represents Saban, Sark, Kiffin, Norvell). I imagine Sexton is squeezing every last dollar out of UW for DeBoer. Fun.
  6. what a kick in the nads this appears to be ... actually, this account only has 96 followers so this might be bogus ... i hope.
  7. things about to get real. Seeing these coaches mentioned as candidates: Lanning, DeBoer, Dabo, Sark, Kiffin

    CFP FINAL FOUR

Yeah, Michigan earned it. Best defense we have played all season by a significant margin. They made our o line look bad, made Penix look bad, erased our running game. There were more plays to be made tonight, and Penix definitely had a stinker, but Michigan was clearly the better team. Have to tip my cap to them. The UW defense actually redeemed themselves after a terrible first quarter. They kept making stops and kept it a one score game for it seems like 2+ quarters. Honestly, the season exceeded my expectations by a significant margin. After winning the Pac12 champ game, everything else was gravy. I wish the conference wasn't over. I really don't know what to expect going forward for college football. It all feels pretty unsettled.
  9. Williams number 1 for me. So many tools, great improviser, and so fun to watch. I would be happy with any of the others being drafted by the Seahawks, probably in this order: Maye, Penix, Nix, Daniels. I have not seen much of Maye yet, but two bro in laws that know football both raved about him. One compared him to Andrew Luck. Penix has an elite arm, elite accuracy, and is a great leader. Nix is also a great leader, and virtually never makes mistakes. Looks like he has a durable NFL body too. Daniels might also be better than all of them. I just watched his highlights again and am not sure why i put him last. This could be a great QB class.

    CFP FINAL FOUR

Ducks have been posting some funny tweets after the Sugar Bowl. BTW, i can relate to this one having watched Mariota's college career.
  11. Hey, i would not be upset if that happened. I think it could potentially happen in the near/intermediate term for all sports other than football, if we listen to Chip Kelly's future vision of college football.
  12. I would hope that whatever the controlling conference document is addresses this point, and has detailed provisions about what is owed to outgoing members and incoming new members, and at what time. It does not have to be, nor should it be in my view, an all or nothing calculation determined as of the date that a member gives notice that they will not continue in the Pac12. That would be too harsh and inequitable. I also suspect the remaining conference members in charge of the Pac2 have a duty to act reasonably toward the 10 schools that will be leaving (but have not left yet), at least through the dates that those schools remain in the Pac12.

    NFL 2023

Yep. I think seahawks fans will be digesting more college QB videos than they have in some time. It is hard to rank the QBs coming out, IMO.
  14. I agree with your summary, except for the bolded part. The schools that "left" the Pac12 were members in good standing when all of this revenue was earned. In fact, the 10 schools likely had a disproportionate impact on the amount of those earnings. In my view, the rights of the former members were not extinguished as a result of their decision not to renew membership. Rather, they have earned their payouts and did not legally relinquish their rights to those payouts. Of course, i say all this without have read a word of any Pac12 charter or related document. But, any membership agreement or partnership agreement would ordinarily have provisions that fairly allocate compensation to departing members. It would be a really unusual, and inequitable, result for the departing members to get nothing of the revenue they helped earn. That would be a windfall for WSU and OSU.
  15. Very good breakdown of Joel Klatt's reasoning behind his Heisman vote. He thought it was a great race, and either Jayden Daniels or Penix could have won.
  16. Well, to clarify, i meant a Daniels win would be influenced by either or both of the following: 1) his very considerable and undeniable statistical accomplishments which you outline above; and 2) voters who predominantly watch teams from conferences other than the Pac12 (SEC and B1G for instance) of which there are many more in the eastern half of the US. My guess is that most west coast voters who predominantly follow the Pac12 will vote for either Penix or Nix. Just a hunch.

    NFL 2023

I watched it, and was impressed by Browning. He looked in control, comfortable, and very accurate. The knock on Jake was that he didn't have big time arm strength, but it looks plenty strong enough to be a successful NFL QB, particularly considering what Brock Purdy is doing for SF.
  18. All credit to you, GL, for this objective take. It is a weird Heisman year, in my view. Both Jayden Daniels and Nix have stats that are clearly way ahead of Penix's. I actually understand why Nix won Pac12 offensive player of the year. The volume of numbers he produced, the lack of mistakes, and the blowout wins were all really impressive. Having said that, i always thought the Heisman was about something more than stats. Specifically, over the years it seems like it included a leadership component, as well as big plays during key wins of a successful (championship) season. If you factor in those intangibles, I think a good case can be made for Penix. I agree with your idea that the winner of the CCG should win the Heisman. I think Daniels likely wins it though, which will mostly just be a stats / east coast vote.

    CFP FINAL FOUR

It doesn't get much worse than that for a top 10 team that had very real CFP aspirations just one game and 3 points ago. Terrible draw for the ducks and for the Pac12. Really would have preferred seeing them face off against one of the other top 8 (Ohio State in particular).

    CFP FINAL FOUR

I fully expected them to put UW number 2, and put us in the Sugar v. Texas. So, not shocked at all. However, the fact that number 2 gets you a road game v. Texas indicates flaws in this entire process. To me, number 2 should be given the option to play 3 at the designated site, or drop to 4 and play 1 at the other site (Rose). If i am the UW AD, i would choose the Rose v. Michigan. What do you guys think about the UW AD reaching out to Bama and Michigan AD to explore a swap? If all programs consent, they could approach the CFP to make the Rose UW v. Michigan. Is that insane? Seems like it would be mutually beneficial all the way around. Who objects? Would need to get DeBoer's agreement internally first, of course.
  21. What a nerve wracking game. Felt like it was tilting the wrong way the entire second half, kind of like the Oregon game. This seems like the latest installment of a matchup that is almost always dramatic and entertaining. I am going to miss playing the Beavs. Would love to see a game at Reser at some point. Hope you all find a good landing spot and keep rocking.
  22. I would, but i am a west coast / Pac12 homer.
  23. I just heard @daviddavidwoods say on the Podcast of Champions that there is only a 5% chance that Chip comes back. Firing will occur either after USC game or end of the season. Also, Neuheisel said yesterday on Seattle radio that Lane Kiffin could be a candidate to replace Chip.
