  1. Looks like they’re traveling to ASU in 2028 and ND in 2031 too. Hopefully they keep all those games. I remember reading that if the SEC goes to 9 conference games they wanted to drop the P5 non-conference requirement.
  2. I guess it'll be another 30 years before Florida travels outside the state for a true road non-conference game. They could do neutral site games but I don't think they've had much success with those either. Nebraska-Minnesota still hasn't done much to change my opinion that most of the B1G are good defenses that have been masked by terrible offenses. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong when we join. Maybe it's just a B1G west thing. Outside of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and maybe Michigan State idk who really worries me in the B1G. Maybe Wisconsin but they just got Fickell so we'll see if they remain a consistent 10+ win team or regress.
  3. Golf is one of those sports all over the place.
  4. I get the argument to a point. But certain sports including the ones you mentioned like golf and track and cross country don’t have structured conference competition and typically already compete all over the country. Impacted sports like volleyball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse and gymnastics may struggle depending on how they structure conference play. I can see the argument for baseball and softball but they do play 3 game series and this past season USC was going to cancel their series with Auburn due to all the rain but instead moved it on the fly to Auburn. I feel like rather than play bigger non-conference series we’ll see more local series to account for the extra travel during conference play.
  5. I’m only seeing 1 P5 opponent in the regular season for 2009.
  6. You left out a bunch of games for Utah. @ Pitt 2011, @ ISU 2010, @ ND 2010 @ Louisville 2007, @ UNC 2005. It's convenient to say "outside the PAC footprint." But they didn't join the PAC until 2011. So if you include those games they played @ Oregon 2009, @ Oregon State 2007, @ UCLA 2006, @ Arizona 2004, and since TCU didn't join the MWC until 2005 they also played @ TAMU in 2003. I would have more respect for Florida if that's what they were doing because, hey? Why not. But they've only scheduled those Florida teams a few times since they've moved up to D1. They've only played FSU & Miami in the same season 7 times since 1987. They're doing what most teams are doing by bringing in other G5 teams from out of state to play which is fine because it gives variety and then the 1 FCS team every year. While some SEC schools do tend to play 2 P5 teams most years Florida isn't one of those teams and for whatever reason isn't playing in-state G5 schools every year.
  7. Yup. Last non-conference game they played outside of Florida was 9/21/1991 in a 21-38 lose at Syracuse. I believe both were ranked in the top 25 at the time. To pile it on more their last non-conference win outside the state was 9/23/1989 38-13 to Memphis. Except Memphis finished with a record of 2-9. Their last non-con win outside state with a team with a winning record was 10/18/1947 against NC State 7-6. IMO they’re kind of a fraud program in my eyes. A lot of passion from fans. But it’s easy to pile on wins when they’re always in your home state.
  8. Baylor got T1 last year. BYU and TCU are still in that T2 but TCU could still move up. Baylor Officially Announces Pursuit of Research 1/Tier 1 Goals
  9. Don’t mind me. Just lurking. All the chatter online is that there could be more movement this week. But who knows.
  10. While it’s funny to laugh at the expense of the bRuin’s, I have to ask what about when inclement weather have cancelled bowl games in the past? I know a pandemic vs. weather aren’t exactly the same. But if teams have already flown out, paid for hotel rooms, etc. Do the bowl organizers pay anything back? I haven’t looked into how that works, but I’ll assume they don’t and the schools are left out to dry.
  11. I should have clarified when I said "they," I meant the networks. MSU loses a home game on Thanksgiving weekend when most students are gone but now plays in a city where a lot of their students are from. The main details of the tv deal included Black Friday games last year so schools should have at least been aware of the possibility of a short week. Most of the griping about night games in November have to do with the cold. So at least now it's indoors, where the game will be accessible to students and alums on the holiday weekend. Like most deals for neutral site games the team giving up the home game usually makes a larger percentage of ticket revenue from the game. Not sure how that really works for conference games, but still I'm sure any lost revenue they would have projected to have made would be made up. The schools shouldn't really be griping. They wanted this huge lucrative deal and they knew they were gonna have to give up some things in order to get it. I guess adding the LA schools does help this issue, especially if the conference continues to allow USC-ND to keep its Oct/Nov rotating schedule which they'll probably be more agreeable to now to ease up the other B1G November night games.
  12. They’ll figure out the details and teams will be made whole. They moved the MSU-PSU to Ford Field. I’d expect we’ll see similar type of games to appease everyone.
  13. Then why is it that the CBS game of the week has featured Alabama 122 times, Florida 109 and Georgia 88 times. Meanwhile Vanderbilt only has 6 appearances and Miss State has 14. If the money was so “secure” then it shouldn’t matter what teams are featured and everyone would have appeared nearly equally.
  14. The ND and UCLA games take away half of November for USC, leaving the first two weeks of the month for possible road game matchups. There usually isn't much snow falling around that time. The B1G is also about making money so they'll want to take advantage of that late NBC time slot meaning that they'll probably put more compelling matchups for the LA schools most years at the end of the year. Also, with that little wrinkle of ND on the schedule it would open up another school, possibly UCLA to take advantage of either a late-season bye or to see about scheduling Cal or Stanford late in the season.
  15. 2014. Oregon, UCLA, ASU, Arizona, USC and Utah all finished in the AP.
  16. My first trip to a game at the Rose Bowl was a success. We had an Airbnb 5 minutes from the stadium, UCLA fans were great to party with before the game, but not too many happy ones after the game. The USC section was rocking all game. After Korey's INT, I was worried the bleachers would start collapsing. 🤣
  17. It may be a few years before I get to integrate and make the road trips. I ended up moving back home to help take care of my dad and try to help him run the family farm which I never really wanted to get into in the first place and now I’m regretting not learning. Hopefully I can at least make some of the home games. But despite some misconceptions USC tends to lean a bit on the conservative side. Although I think as the university tries to become more diversified that may be shifting a bit. From a sports culture standpoint I think the average LA sports fan is more about the entertainment value and not so much the die-hard culture most B1G and SEC schools are known for. I’m still not 100% happy about the move but I get why it’s happening. I’ll definitely miss the easy road trips and weekenders to the Bay. I think a lot of fans are disillusioned that we’ll play Stanford and Cal often but in a 9 game conference schedule+ND that leaves 2 non-con games and USC will probably want more home games to offset travel. But we’ll see what happens.
  18. At least on the bright side Michigan won’t be able to back out of games against UCLA soon.
  19. I initially started off hating the move to the B1G. I’m at about 85% in favor of it now. The commissioner should have been focusing on training for the refs instead of focusing on the LA schools leaving in the off-season, which still seems to be a majority of his focus all these months later.
  20. But isn't the narrative that USC is this big bad meanie that is preventing the other schools from joining?
  21. If we had any real clout our games would start at 3:00PM and never be in the P12N.
  22. When is the last time USC even went to Corvallis or Eugene for a late November game? 2010? 2011? I honestly mostly remember the October games.
  23. Not a bad seat in the house IMO. Nice places to tailgate. I just hate the rain games. I've never been more drenched and miserable at a football game than going to Palo Alto. We have a family friend that loves going to the ND/Stanford game every year so we tagged along back in 2019 and I have still have no idea how every layer of clothing got soaked.
  24. Yea, the old deal was being as reported to be $1B a year. Now I've seen projections ranging anywhere from $1.3-$1.8B a year. Apparently Apple even wanted to get involved after the LA schools were added. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/SB-Blogs/SBJ-Unpacks/2022/06/30.aspx
