glduck
They are going for it and I love it. AFC West is going to be bananas next year.
KUGRDON
I don’t know how each of these guys do next year but it it reasonable to believe each move is positive. They addressed all positions where there was a clearly demonstrated need. They know two years from now they will be paying Herbert $50M, the time is now. Another tweek today: Would still be great to get an impact CB, DT or OL with the #17 pick.
KUGRDON
Shit fuck. I thought the rest of the AFC West we’re just mail it in after what the chargers did lol. Now we have to get the right tackle. In Green Bay now it truly is all about Erin.
row Z
AFC west is going to be a bloodbath. I am not betting on the Raiders with Carr. It will be Chargers or Chiefs, and i like the Chargers' momentum.

glduck
Realistically, Mariota’s best case scenario in Atlanta is to play well enough to get a chance somewhere else. ATL is either going to take a QB in the first round this year, or looks like they’ll go into 2022 ready to tank for a top pick a year from now. The o-line was PFF’s #27th ranked unit, and I dare you to name a receiver on the roster (though Kyle Pitts is going to be an All Pro tight end). KUGRDON
Meanwhile Seahawks must ponder whether DK Metcalf is turning into J Adams, a gifted athlete who can’t produce $30 million dollars worth of play in a Seahawk uniform. Can the Seahawks get that value out of a WR1 with Lock, Mayfield or Gino throwing him the ball from behind a Seahawk OLine running Pete Carroll’s offense. Shop and trade. glduck
Everything you said is true. That said, what *I think* the Seahawks believe: 2022 is a full-on tank year. Gather as many assets in the 2022 and 2023 drafts as they can; including a QB with their first pick in ‘23, which is going to be a good one if they are serious about riding the Drew Lock Express this season. Re-signing DK is prioritized because he’s young enough to slide into that “rookie QB window” that starts with drafting whoever is selected in 2023 — and because Seattle truly lacks top tier talent. Obviously if they don’t draft the right QB there is no true window, and they’d be paying a receiver ridiculous money for no real reason. It’s a gamble. But I think this is how Seattle sees things. clpp01
I mean having a contender for the worst team in NFL history in 2025 is a pretty small price to pay for a couple titles.
glduck
Seahawk-slanted thoughts on the draft tonight: Re: Baker Mayfield chatter — I think the Seahawks make a lot of sense for Baker, but I don’t think Baker makes a lot of sense for the Seahawks. Re: the #9 pick — BPA all the way. Need help all over the place — CB, DL, OL. Take the best pick, and repeat down the draft. Don’t reach for Malik Willis. He may turn out to be great, but Seattle isn’t ready to compete so no sense in starting the rookie QB salary clock now. Build up the talent level, take your lumps this season, take a QB next year. CJ Stroud or Bryce Young? Yes, please. I’ve seen a few mocks predict Seattle trades up into the last 1st to take the Ole Miss QB — don’t do this, either. If you absolutely have to take a QB, wait till the later rounds and grab Bailey Zappe.

glduck
Love the bookend tackles in the 1st and 3rd. Didn’t like taking a 24 year old project edge rusher in the 2nd. Indifferent on Kenneth Walker. Yeah using a second rounder on a RB is dumb but I guess it’s an improvement on wasting a 1st on one. I assume Chris Carson’s neck injury is much worse than what’s been reported. Since it looks like the tank is on for 2022 I guess we’ll have a talented young back to help out whichever QB we take next year.
