Oregon lost a WR who had yet to record a stat in two seasons, and we're going to lose a few others. Lest my math has betrayed me (possible), we're still over the scholarship limit.

And here they are:

EUGENE — Two reserve defenders have left the Oregon football program.

Backup linebacker Kieth Simms and reserve safety Billy Gibson, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Oregonian/OregonLive.

Neither Simms or Gibson are listed on the rosters for Saturday’s spring game.

If Oregon State had even a middling defense, I'm convinced we could win 9 games next year.  We have a track star who can catch at WR, a 6th-year QB who, if he stays healthy, will be a deep-ball threat, and a stable of running backs that is positively USC-ish.

Missed tackles will cost us at least 5 of those potential 9 wins.  If our D-line is drastically better we could approach a bowl berth, but that's not likely.

Here is some news that might make every non-husky happy: two redshirt freshman husky QBs (Jacob Sirmon and Colson Yankoff) are both entering the transfer portal. Both were 4 start recruits, and top 100 on 247. Frack.

According to KJR and Softy, Jacob Sirmon has removed his named from the portal.

Interesting. Would make sense for Sirmon as he will likely be 3d string this year, and competing for the starting job next year if Eason goes to the NFL.

Ah, the QB Mark Helfrich wanted over Tua Tagovailoa.

Turned out to be the only good decision as head coach Helfrich made for the long-term success of Oregon football.  Thanks Helf!

Yankoff was year after Tua.  UO ended up with Tyler instead, which seems like UO got the better end of that deal.  The QB they went after and got was Kelley instead of Tua, was Kelley, who ended up at ASU after helf was fired.  Then FWT had to scramble, and took Burmeister from UA.
