Sorry, what does the location of your office building have to do with anything?

Or standing next to hospital workers who could be carrying that virus at the light rail station.  Or even better, anyone who walked in that hospital and didn’t bother to use the sanitizer that is in plain sight at multiple locations.

Fret not, Nebraska has a small outbreak next door...maybe I’ll catch it.

In all seriousness, I’m not too worried in this case.

@mugtang Can we merge the two flu threads please?

That's unfortunate -- there was a Flu politics thread & a Flu non-politics thread.  Now that we've combined them, can we talk about the politics of the Coronavirus in the non-politics one?

Why not:

But over the last three years, the Trump administration has advanced — with the support of the nursing home industry — an effort to ease regulations on long-term care facilities and has taken significant steps to reduce fines for violations.

Of particular concern in nursing homes is what experts call “infection control” to halt or prevent the spread of disease within health care facilities. Last July, the Trump administration proposed rolling back regulations requiring all nursing homes and other long-term care facilities to employ infection prevention specialists at least part time, citing “excessively burdensome requirements” on the industry. Under the proposal, which is still working its way through federal rule-making, nursing homes would be allowed to use consultants for infection prevention rather than hiring staff.

Or maybe Trump is trolling all libs because he has plenty of heads to choose whenever to reside in.

Our government has been prepared more than you think and we have been able to see how it unfolds before coming here.  If this started out in the US, who knows how it would have fared.  If Biden becomes more of the likely Dem nominee...I think Trump is going to have to behave himself until November 3rd but probably won't.  Trump knows that if he botches this response, he might not be in the WH on January 20, 2021.

Is that what you want for a president?  A really badass, funny troll, who may or may not be stupid because you can never tell when he's serious?

Serious question.

from The NY Times ...

Dr. Hahn repeated the estimate on Tuesday in testimony at a Senate committee hearing. He told Senator Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington, that although “this is a dynamic process,” the federal government was working with private companies to ship about 2,500 test kits to labs by the end of the week. “That should give us the capacity, in the hands of laboratories once they validate, to perform up to a million tests,” he said at the hearing.

The Association of Public Health Laboratories has said that its labs would be able to conduct about 10,000 tests a day when all of its 100 members that can conduct testing are running. Mr. Blank said that labs can run about 100 tests per day. As of Tuesday, he said 54 of those labs were able to do so, with the rest expected to be up and running by the end of the week.

Dr. Hahn and White House officials have been trying to address the lag in testing caused by botched test kits that were rolled out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention early last month, and that agency’s enforcement of strict testing criteria.
