Beavs are first team since 1999 to sweep both Arizona schools.  20-1 for the first time since 1962, and a consensus #1 in all polls.

Pretty much guarantees we won't win the nat'l championship this year, but it's a fun season to watch.  Two of the wins against Zona were walk-offs.

A couple of those were very bad beats.

oregon state 6-0
oregon 4-2
washington 4-2
usc 4-2
ucla 4-2
stanford 2-1
wazzu 1-2
arizona 2-4
arizona state 1-5
cal 1-5
utah 1-5

a little misleading, as both arizona schools are better than their conference records but both have played and been swept by oregon state, and the beavs are going to be sweeping a lot of schools this year. they've got the nation's #1 rpi, arizona is #2.

lots of schools jockeying for position in that "next tier." i don't know how good many of them are (oregon included) but hopefully we can squeeze enough through into the tournament when the time comes.

Lotsa shit changes as conference play wears on.  Beavs were a lock for the tourney last year, then lost a few series in a row and were shut out.

That said, I think this year will be different.  Beavs beat St. Mary's last night and also swept the weekly player awards for the 2nd week in a row.  First team to do that since ASU in 1989.

oregon baseball dropped it's first series of the year over the weekend. utah took 2/3, though david peterson won pitcher of the week for his gem friday. his march: 5-0, 1.23 era, 57 k / 2 bb. the team bounced back by beating byu today in Provo.

oregon softball swept arizona state to get to 33-0. we are #1 or #3 depending on which national poll you look at. perennial arch nemesis ucla is up next.
