MrBug708
Deshaun Foster was just hired to keep kids from transferring from a likely 4-8 team. Reasons cited because he had great mentors like Chip Kelly, Jim Mora, and Kliff Kingsbury. Yikes Tony White was right there. Even Tommy Rees would have been better. Do you know if they reached out to/interviewed Fleck, Fisch and/or Troy Taylor? I saw twitter rumors, but could not confirm.
MrBug708
I think they had conversations with each of them. The UCLA plane was in Cabo where Fleck and Fisch was. But I think Foster was secretly the AaD favorite which was sad. Apparently the three years of 8 wins was a highlight for Jarmond so he wanted to build upon it. Which is pathetic. Foster is a pretty reserved dude who isn't a recruiting grinder. Terrible fit in today's NIL landscape. This is our Jon Embree moment. glduck
I thought Troy Taylor would have been a great fit, and I can’t imagine he’s exciting about joining the ACC.
MrBug708
David Shaw likely coming on board as something. Either Director of Leadership title to get UC pension to something like Offensive Coordinator.

Unfortunately, UCLA is not (and for many years how) has not been, a destination school for head coaches. Which is a shame because they have all of the ingredients to be a destination school, but they've floundered in mediocrity since the 70's. I think Foster is about as good as they can get, right now. The other names you mentioned as potential candidates would have wanted to come to UCLA, and if they're not interested, then you can't blame the administration for not hiring them. Dude, when UCLA hired Chip Kelly he was he hottest coach in that hiring cycle. UCLA landed him over Florida. It didn't end up working out, but UCLA nailed that hire on paper over other significant programs.

No, UCLA should have fired him after the ASU game but we waited for the SC game and won. We haven't been a destination school because we have never paid well. There was interest from candidates, even this late, we just fumbled the hiring. Hopefully Foster can prove people wrong.

Curious -- How much would it have cost to fire him? How much was saved by him resigning?
MrBug708
Made 1.5 vs 9ish to fire him. The cost would be how much better of a coach long term.
