Quack 12
Precisely. Take Wooden out and this league has four national titles in 80 years, and truth be told, Oregon's doesn't really count.
Orange
This is close to what I've always said. We're way out west. We don't have the population, media spotlight, or the horses to make huge, terrific gains in big-revenue college sports of any kind. The eastern half of the U.S. has 80% of the population. Of course we won't be on the same level as the ACC/SEC/Big East. College baseball is different because, well, the Beavs rule.

EastCoastFan
Another way to look at which conferences are performing in college basketball is to examine the participation in the final four rather than just the NCAA champs. Looking at the last 20 years for the six major conferences, here is the participation level in final fours: Big 10: 17 teams ACC: 15 teams Big East: 12 teams Big 12: 9 teams SEC: 8 teams Pac-12: 3 teams For the past ten years it is: Big 10: 8 teams ACC: 6 teams Big East: 9 teams Big 12: 3 teams SEC: 5 teams Pac-12: 1 team

glduck
Arizona State has played themselves back into the bubble. They'll be 19-8 after Sunday (they host Cal), and are currently #66 in the NET rankings. Not great, but they do finish with three Top 100 opponents on the road: @ Oregon, @ Oregon state, @ Arizona. There's opportunities to move up. Their resume isn't bad, either, and could further bump them up. Kansas is #15, Mississippi State #26, and Washington #30. Strong finishes by their top three W's could put them over the edge.
glduck
Oregon couldn't cross the 50-point barrier against SC, a team that came into the game giving up 74 ppg. We are a bad, bad offensive team.
Orange
UCLA has 28 free throws. Oregon State had 3. And the Beavs throttled the Bruins in the paint. How does that happen?
