File this under, "you can't make this shit up if you tried."  Jose Canseco is now an analyst for the A's.  Local anchor Brodie Brazil, who is named Brodie Brazil but is somehow not a pornstar, tried to do the bash brothers bash with Jose Canseco.  Unfortunately, he bounces off of him, falls into a table and breaks a laptop on live television.  Maybe I shouldn't write this season off just yet.

In the video it looks like he just leaned over and it fell.  I didn't really see him "bounce off" Jose.

probably the best thing the mariners did the entire decade of the 80s.

1)  Draft Junior

2)  Tugboat

3)  1980s ended;  1990 season started and the Mariner Moose debuted

Footnote:  I realize that "Mr. Mariner" Alvin Davis had his best years in the 1980s, and nothing against him at all, but when the face of your franchise's first 15 years is only known to Mariner fans, along with some scattered national baseball nerds, and he made exactly one All-Star game, that's an epically shitty decade-plus of baseball.

The good: The A's rally from 3 runs down to take a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th.

The bad: For some reason, Casilla wasn't available so we go with Ryan Dull, who promptly gives up a 3-run homer to lose the game in the 9th.  D'oh!

i'm staying as optimistic as possible despite being, you know, winless. i have a lot of faith in the offense (5 runs in 31 innings notwithstanding) and those kuma and paxton starts were very encouraging.

i keep telling myself houston is really good. another part of me is shaming the positive half, wondering what part of being a mariner fan could possibly lead to a positive outlook.

It took 3 games for me to confirm my preseason suspensions that the A's do suck and will continue to suck.   The good news is that I will be able to score $20 tickets behind home plate and I will be making my way to the new craft beer section of the stadium earlier than usual.

The irony is that I'll probably attend far more A's games than Warriors games.  I'm not exactly slumming it these days but fuck me if I'm going to pay $200 a ticket to sit in the upper deck and watch the Warriors play the Suns in March.  I've been to two Warrior games all seasons, by far the fewest amount of games I've attended since college.  I'll probably go to at least 7-10 A's games this year because I can sit wherever I want and not feel guilty about spending $15 per ticket, $20 if I really want to impress wife.
