Orange
Most people wearing college gear have never attended college. Especially USC gear. Many college football fans have never attended college at all. They tend to root for the local team. Or the local image. I know most of the people that sit around me at the Rose Bowl. Most of them did not attend UCLA. Some went to college but the majority of them had ever been to college at all. I believe this is the norm at college games. Everybody wants to have something to cheer for. It might be the norm for UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, and other high-profile teams. It's not the norm for most college fans. glduck
oregon has this problem right now. lots of hangers-on who have no affiliation to the school but have been diehards ever since 2010.

Orange
I'd love for OSU to get that problem. The side-effects are awesome.
MrBug708
I'd say it's the norm in big cities or winning programs. Nobody is bandwagoning on CU right now
Scscsc89
When you go to Iowa City, there are a lot of non-Alumni that go to Hawkeye games -- although a lot of them are employed in University-related businesses.
RogueDuck
WSU has underachieved. We should be Bowl eligible right now. No, you should have one more loss right now. WSU should send Frost a gift for calling the same play over and over again, the last two series.

All Hail
The line is now USC -6, which means you can get Utah straight up at 2:1 odds (+200.). Must be all those SC fans just arriving to Vegas.
All Hail
Also of note: Colorado went from +2 to -1 WSU went from +7.5 to +
Scscsc89
Is there such a bet that if you're willing to REALLY go against the conventional line, the payout is significantly better? asking for a friend.

All Hail
Why USC is favored ... http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-usc-utah-odds-20151024-story.html "People think this is a tailspin for USC, but I don't see it as a tailspin. They just need to stabilize a bit. They have the No. 1 recruiting class, NFL talent all over the roster. All it takes is the coaches to say the right things and to put the guys in the right spots, and that team can play with anyone in the country." By this logic, USC should be favored to win every game they play.

RogueDuck
Texas has tons of talent also, at least on paper. I don't think Strong forgot how to coach, sometimes guys who make 50k a year to cover HS athletics, are wrong. The best NFL available qb I've seen this year, Paxton Lynch, was like the 2000 rated recruit.
Damage U
College football would be pretty boring if they played these games on paper. The human element makes it so much more enjoyable.
MrBug708
Everyone always forgets that their opponents job is to beat them. From players to admin to coaching staffs. So a team doing poorly often is the result of the other side just doing their jobs much better Duh
