Mano
Going from David Shaw to Troy Taylor seems like taking a step down.

They want new blood so I guess Stanford wants to throw it all around the yard because that’s what Troy does.
Scscsc89
David Shaw was a step down from David Shaw

Mano
Taylor seems to like a high tempo offense with not much emphasis on the defense. I don't know that Stanford can get the athletes needed to win track meet type games in the Pac.
Scscsc89
He’s been the DL coach for one-sixth of the schools in the conference. Who is next?

EastCoastFan
The whole "Coach Prime" thing makes sense when you see this. He'll be quite something at Colorado, and great for the Pac-10.

glduck
It’d suck for us if he left, but he’s gotta be the longest of long shots. I assume he got an interview just because his ties to Belichick and the org.

Not sure how much further "down" Stanford can possibly go, after those four seasons. And they would have probably gone down even further, had Shaw not done them a favor, by resigning. Stanford doesn't want new blood (they didn't fire Shaw). They just want a new HC (because Shaw forced them to need a new HC, when he resigned). What they want is a HC who they believe can win football games.
